Trust Your Gut - Part 1
By Brandi Noyes, LMT
I guess the best way to start anything is with an introduction...
Hello my name is Brandi, I am 30, to look at me I appear to be healthy and fit... but not internally, not for a long time, I would like to discuss some health issues I've had. Why? There are a number of reasons.... I like to learn (because it could save my life) I'm finally becoming comfortable enough to open up about it after years of confusion, self expression is therapeutic especially for the gut (We'll get more into that later) and lastly I'm sure there are people suffering just like I was (too proud to admit) and scared just like I was, maybe they will stumble upon my writings and findings and begin to find some answers or hope.
I would also like to mention I am a holistic healthcare practitioner, I am not a.... digestive specialist, I didn't go to school for nutrition and I am not a doctor. The things that I am going to discuss are discoveries that I've made with my body during my journey at times and cases that I've discovered working with multiple people in my practice. That being said every individual is different and as most regimens will recommend discussing any and everything you do with your primary care physician.
Moving forward... These are all of the symptoms I've experienced since birth that were all viewed as individual "problems" by different specialists, all treating that specific condition, which is okay that is what they were trained to do. For me however I wanted to know why and will always have that wonder. All of these signs (I prefer to call it rather than symptoms) have rotated throughout my life, I did however try and list them from birth to present as they arose to the best of my memory.
- Allergies/ Congestion/ Sinus Problems
- Swollen Glands
- Stomach Pain
- Gas/ Bloating
- Difficulty Breathing
- Increased Heart Rate After Eating
- Mood Swings
- Painful/Heavy Menstrual Cycle
- Post Nasal Drip
- Hoarse/ Raspy Voice
- Cystic Acne
- Lots of Hair Loss
- Dry Mouth
- Coughing (without production)
- Muscle and Joint Pain
- Tingle in Arms
- Losing Feeling in Legs
- Sciatica Shooting Pain Down Legs
- Over Eating/ Food Cravings
- Aggressive Behavior
- Loss of Muscle Coordination
- Bad Memory
- Poor Speech
- Slow Mental Function
- Fibromyalgia feeling (feels like bruised skin)
- Panic Attack/ Feelings of Doom/ Death
So as I mentioned before these are listed mostly chronologically but many have entered in and out of my life at different times. As you can see things became progressively worse as I got older and it became extremely imperative that I take action. To read the full article, visit Brandi's Blog by clicking here>>>
The Benefits of Reiki
By Christine Bailey, RMT & Integrated Energy Master/Instructor
Reiki – pronounced “Ray Key” is a well-known Eastern modality for stress reduction. It helps the client to relax, which assists and encourages the body to heal. It is a very gentle technique used for stress reduction and relaxation, tapping into an unlimited supply of "life force energy”. In a reiki session, the practitioner gently places their hands on the client or above the client on different meridians or chakras, guiding the life force energy for the clients highest good. This technique helps the client to become relaxed and balanced, assisting in letting go of emotional and mental blocks of stress and tension, therefore, improving one’s health.
Energy flows through all living things and is connected directly to the quality of health. All livings things have this flow of energy. If they did not there would be no life. The existence of this "life force energy" has been verified by scientific experiments. Medical doctors are considering the role it plays in the functioning and strengthening of the immune system and the healing process. If your life force “energy” is low, or if there is a restriction in its flow, you will be more susceptible to illness and “dis-ease”. When it is high and flowing freely, you are less likely to get sick. Life force energy plays an important role in everything we do.
Many hospitals, including Hartford Hospital and BayState Medical Center, now recommend Reiki for their cancer patients, which assist in pain management and the healing process.
